Recovering from Burnout & Unlearning Trauma

Recovering from burnout has been no easy task. First, it was just recognizing and acknowledging that I was burnt out and what that feels like in my body. At that point. I’d been used to cycles of burnout. As a teacher in New York City, I’d spend the bulk of my summer resting and recovering from now tumultuous the prior school year had been. Because even though I’d made it to the end of June, I’d been burnt out since December. Do you know what it’s like to keep pushing and pulling through when you’ve never been at 100% and most likely never will? It’s disheartening. Heartbreaking.
